17th Oct 08Rules of Hockey Changes for 2009
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that it anticipates the next Rules of Hockey and Rules of Indoor Hockey will take effect from 1 June 2009.
Until new sets of rules are published and implemented, the 2007-2008 rules continue to apply.

The exact nature of any changes for 2009 is still under discussion within the FIH. The Hockey Rules Board has already undertaken a significant review of the Rules of Indoor Hockey. At its meeting in November 2008, it will finalise any proposals for changes to the rules for outdoor hockey.

6th Oct 08South League rule changes
Thanks to Mr. Tobin for picking up the following information.

The minimum number of players to start or continue a game shall be eight. Players injured or suspended during a game shall be counted as part of that number.

So even if you sent off four players the game can continue.

]If no umpire/s can be appointed or withdraw before the game teams must appoint their own who shall be at least on the active England Hockey Level One Register and insured.

So if you do not appoint or withdraw an umpire the clubs must provide insured L1 umpires

8th Sep 08Kit sales
A number of items of kit were sold to members at the Oxon Cup last Saturday. I will bring all our remaining stock to the Buckinghamshire day on 20th September.

As a result of recent sales I will probably need to place an order to boost our stock in the near future and this is the best time to order items which are not carried in stock in large quantities or at all (i.e. items other than short sleeve polo shirts and caps). Minimum order numbers mean that some items I cannot order in ones and twos when they are requested. For example, long sleeve polo shirts for those cold January fixtures.

To avoid disappointment and to help me manage the kit, please let me know if you need (or will need this side of Christmas) any particular items. A list of kit we normally supply is in the downloads section. I will also try and organise other kit if there is demand. For example we have previously supplied rugby style tops with fleece lining.

The message is, let me know what you need before the next order goes in.

Regards

Stephen Marshall
