| Good news about David Jenney and Andy Sparrow | |
I am delighted to announce that David Jenney has accepted your Council's invitation to become the second BHUA President. David follows Alec Graham, who retired just before the 2011 AGM. For our newer members, David joined Bucks and Oxon HUA several decades ago, took umpriring appointments until relatively recently, served two terms as Secretary to B&OHUA, oversaw the formation of BHUA and became our first Secretary, is currently part of our coaching team...He has worked with Hockey and other sport administrations for many years. Andy Sparrow is now the person to contact for queries and requests about appointments. Andy has been progressively taking over the role of Appointments Secretary from Simon Seabrook, who will continue to support Andy. R
| Weekday Appointments | |
A number of weekday appointments are now being requested. Can you amend your availability via your personal area. Grade 4 umpires that wish to enter availability should contact me on 07990 541847. Regards,
| Congratulations on Grade Promotion | |
Following the Bucks Cup where many umpires were assessed, the following umpires have been awarded their promotion to the next grade based on recent performances & these assessments at Slough back in September. We wish them well with their umpiring & others who are also very close will be supported further over the coming weeks & months. Jim Patel
| BHUA - new kit supplier and ordering process | |
Dear Members Hawkinsport BHUA Website Up and Running I am writing to tell you about our new arrangements for ordering umpire kit. In future the association will not hold stocks of kit. From now on members will be able to order directly from our new supplier Hawkinsport. Not only will Hawkinsport supply a wider range of kit and equipment (for example holdalls, whistles and cards will now be available) but ordering will primarily be done via the internet (telephone orders - 01628 819242 - or a visit to their shops as an alternative). Rather than having to wait for me to find a route to get kit to you, items will be sent direct to your home for a reasonable delivery charge, although collection direct from their shops in Amersham and Bourne End at no charge is available if you prefer (delivery will be charged on all orders but refunded at the shop when the kit is collected). Hawkinsport will not hold stocks of garments as such. On receipt of your order, they purchase the item for next day delivery to their workshop, embroider the appropriate logo and then despatch. Delivery will be stated as two weeks from order, although they are targeting ten days. Why not visit the new website now at: http://www.hawkinsport.co.uk/clubs-c-28.html?osCsid=7bd1f288b205562985e1506894d3596c or alternatively go to the main Hawkinsport website and select “clubs” in the left hand margin and then click on the BHUA logo to access our exclusive area. I would remind members that only grades 1-3 (i.e. those who take appointments) may order kit with the BHUA logo. However, every item shown is available to grades 4-5 but with an “UMPIRE” logo (which incorporates the crossed hockey sticks). The website page for the item you wish to acquire will have a box for you to state your grade. This will determine which logo is embroidered on your kit. If you cannot find what you need on this new web-site, have a word with Hawkinsport direct (contact details on their website) and they will try to meet your needs. Our contact there is Martin Sell and his lady colleague “Steph” is also there to help you. As I am retiring from the committee this year, Mark Rutherford will act as liaison between Hawkinsport and BHUA. Keep him in the loop if you think that other items might be added to the website and generally offer him feedback on your shopping experience. It is important that this new arrangement not only works for us but also for our new supplier, so please have a look at the website soon and order items that you need without delay. I will be happy to field any questions over the next few weeks but once the season starts Mark will be the link between members, BHUA and Hawkinsport. Regards
| Red cards | |
To All BHUA Umpires Any umpire issuing a red card in an appointed game or raising a disrepute charge MUST notify Simon Seabrook (Appointments Secretary) by email at [ mailto:simon.seabrook@tesco.net ]simon.seabrook@tesco.net or 07920 238949 after the red card or disrepute charge form has been completed. The Association needs to know, understand and support our umpires in these situations, so help us by informing us immediately. Simon Seabrook 29/03/11 |
